Evening Hike: Above the Clyde
Join Gaby from Skylark Guiding for the first in a series of evening hikes around Glasgow, designed to make the most of the light evenings, taking in some beautiful views in great company.
About Evening Hike: Above the Clyde
Starting from the 19th century grand manor at Overtoun House, this guided walk will visit Doughnut Hill and Lang Crags above Dumbarton, returning through the enchanting woodlands teaming with bird song at sunset. While being close to the bustle of the firth of Clyde, this area is remarkably quiet, and the views over the Clyde, up to Loch Lomond and beyond to the Highlands are stunning.
Timings allow for a walk at a social pace with breaks to enjoy the views, catch our breath and snack.
Key information:
- Start point: Overtoun House, Milton (Dumbarton). See map here. Possibility of pick up from a nearby bus stop or train station (please ask about this when booking)
- Duration: 3 hours
- Ascent: 300m
- Distance: 8 km
- Terrain: field and hill trails, a very wet section near Doughnot Hill, and a short steep section down rocky steps.
