Rottenrow. The Hospital on “that hill”.
From here to maternity… and an eternity to climb when your time was due.
It’s May 2001 and Big Andy and his sidekick Slim Si are watching over the decrepit wards of Rottenrow, the night before it’s razed to the ground. End of an era and an epidural. Big Andy’s getting a wee bit sentimental as he remembers how his mammy pushed him and his 5 siblings out into the world. On their midnight security check they stumble across a rusty old filing cabinet… discovering a drawer frull of vodka, castor oil and old records. Soon it’s into the wee small hours with a few drams… and remembering a lot of prams, as the “Wummin Oan Ra Wards.” break waters and bring Rottenrow back to life, in true Glasgow style.
All the contractions and plenty of distractions as the years, fears and tears of Rottenrow reveal themselves… to a soundtrack of big songs and occasional lullaby, delivering hilarious and poignant musical comedy that will have you rolling in the aisles.
