Not only are they stunning to look at but brightly coloured damselflies provide us with a vital service in the form of them eating midges - dragonflies on the other hand are the high speed hunters of everything up to and including bumblebees! Spending most of their lives as predatory larvae in the pond the flying insects we see are their final life stage.
We'll get the nets out and see if we can catch any to get a close up look - but as the smart money's on the insects to evade us it's a good thing there will be some preserved samples to look at.
Sunday 14th September
12noon - 3pm
