Holmwood is a family home like no other in Glasgow. Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson designed the house for paper magnate James Couper and his wife in 1857–8. Holmwood House is widely regarded as this Scottish architect’s finest domestic creation. The National Trust for Scotland has now finished its renovation project to restore Thomson's interiors as he designed them in the 1850s. It is now the only Thomson building open to the public with original interiors intact.
Join us for guided tours and discover more about Holmwood, Thomson, and the restoration project.
Booking for guided tours is essential. Tours run every 30 minutes from the front of the house. The cafe and shop are open to all 10:00-17:00* (* last admission 16:00)- All profits remain towards the conservation of Holmwood House and the valuable work of the National Trust for Scotland.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
