The Trades Hall is a stunning Adam designed building with opulent interiors, an extensive art collection and a mammoth amount of information stored in their library and museum.
Originally the incorporated crafts of Glasgow met in the Almshouse on the corner of Cathedral Street and the High Street but the magnificent Adam designed Trades Hall, sitting in the heart of the Merchant City, has now been home since 1794. It is the only major Adam work surviving in Glasgow still being used for its original purpose of a public hall.
Aside from the building itself, there is an extensive art collection and the vast amount of information stored in their library and museum gives a wonderful and fascinating insight into the history of Glasgow.
This talk will be presented by Craig Bryce. Craig joined the Incorporation of Masons in Glasgow in1998 and has been Deacon twice. A member of the Trades House Museum Committee since 2012, he developed the Trades House Digital Museum where many of the Trades Hall artefacts can be seen. (www.tradeshousemuseum.org).
He is also a Trades House Tour Guide and has also been the Honorary Archivist for the past 8 years.
