Join us at the historic Pollokshaws Burgh Hall for an unforgettable afternoon with the one and only Phil Kelsall MBE, the legendary principal organist of the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool. Known worldwide for his electrifying performances on the mighty Wurlitzer, Phil brings his toe-tapping talent north of the border for an afternoon that will transport you straight to the golden era of ballroom.
This is no ordinary dance event, Phil will be playing Pollokshaws’ own Wurlitzer pipe organ, providing the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of Ballroom, Latin-American, and Sequence Dancing. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or simply love the glamour and rhythm of the ballroom, this is your chance to take to the floor in true Strictly style, or simply sit back and enjoy the music!
The sprung dance floor, has been often used as a rehearsal space by Strictly Come Dancing professionals and contestants, and it's ready to glide you through a January afternoon like no other.
Phil Kelsall is one of the most celebrated theatre organists in the world, best known as the principal organist at the iconic Tower Ballroom, Blackpool, where he has performed for over 40 years. Appointed in 1975 and becoming principal in 1977, Phil has continued the legacy of legends like Reginald Dixon, dazzling audiences with his mastery of the world-famous Wurlitzer organ.
His unmistakable style and joyful playing have made him a familiar sound across BBC Radio 2 and shows like The Organist Entertains, Friday Night is Music Night, and even The Archers. He’s appeared on screen in Songs of Praise, Strictly Come Dancing specials, and alongside stars from Barbara Windsor to Jo Brand.
Phil tours extensively across the UK and internationally, with major performances in the USA, Australia, and New Zealand, and plays to over 100,000 people each year at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. With over 40 albums to his name — including multiple award-winners — he’s one of the most recorded organists of all time.
In recognition of his remarkable contribution to music, Phil was awarded an MBE in 2010, joining Tower legends Reginald Dixon and Norman Barrett.
