Closing the show from 8.30pm on Monday 1 September, your hosts will be The Clutha’s regular wonderfulness that is The Trad Jam session.
2 Stages? 2 Stages? Yes indeed. Clutha Trust Founder Alan Crossan “as a progressive enterprise, we want to expand the choice and variety at The Clutha while enhancing Glasgow’s night-time culture. A second outdoor stage was always on the cards as we plan a series of festivals across the year. This will not only connect the fantastic talent the city has to offer with our patrons but will provide a link from Glasgow Green to the City Centre through our closing of Clyde Street during these festivals. Everything we do is geared to generating funds, supporting The Clutha Trust’s work, with the focus as ever, on empowering vulnerable young people through the arts.”
This second stage, a prime location overlooking The Clyde, increases opportunities for performers from all over. With a remit to expand the content, diversity and profile of The Clutha Trust, the newly appointed Festival Director Clive Leighton enthused “we’re all really excited about building on the entertainment legacy of The Clutha with the wider potential that comedy, music and theatre brings. We’re looking for collaborative support from those in the hospitality, performance, sport and leisure sectors to get onside with our newly launched Clutha Competitions. Working with A&R Digital we’ve created a series of lottery style competitions with one-off prizes such as a signed Paul Weller guitar and last week one winner attended Oasis in Murrayfield”.
Clutha Fest 1 runs from Friday 29 August to Monday 1 September inclusive
Attendance is free of charge.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
