Take your pattern cutting skills to the next level in this focused class, where we explore how to transform a basic bodice block into a range of stylish and well-fitting garments through sleeve and collar adaptations.
Using Winifred Aldrich’s industry-trusted methods as our foundation, you’ll learn how to draft and modify a sleeve and collar styles. This class is ideal for confident beginners and intermediate makers looking to deepen their understanding of garment design and construction.
In this class, you’ll learn to:
Draft a sleeve and collar from your basic bodice block
Understand proportions, shaping, and ease for comfortable wear
Apply dart manipulation to support different collar and sleeve styles (if required)
Create working patterns ready for toiling and final garments
If time allows you can try to draft further styles under the supervision of our tutor Cara.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with custom pattern pieces, technical knowledge, and the confidence to incorporate your own design elements into future makes. A must for anyone wanting to build a truly personalised wardrobe!
*This class is only suitable for those who have attended one of our pattern drafting classes as you will need to bring along your own personal bodice block and copy of the Winifred Aldrich book to be able to participate in the class. If you have done the skirt or trouser class before let us know and we can supply a generic sized bodice block for you.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
