Kicking off our Glasgow’s 850th anniversary celebrations and Project Insight Tours, BDP is delighted to offer a unique close-look at one of the city’s most significant transport landmarks for a behind-the-scenes architectural tour.
The redevelopment of Glasgow Queen Street Station, completed in 2021 as part of the Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP), has redefined the passenger experience at Scotland’s third-busiest railway station. The design not only enhances connectivity but also celebrates the station’s heritage framing the Category-A listed Victorian train shed at the heart of the redevelopment. The result is a striking new civic gateway that welcomes millions of rail-travellers to Glasgow each year.
The tour will be led by Edward Dymock, BDP Architect Associate Director and Project Lead for the redevelopment. Through a short presentation and guided walkthrough, Edward will share the story behind the station’s transformation, from design concept and heritage integration to the challenges and innovations that shaped the project.
What to Expect
· Design-focussed guided tour of Glasgow Queen Street Station
· Insights into the design process of heritage integration and urban regeneration

Join us to discover how considered design transformed the historic station into a modern gateway, that celebrates both the city's past and present.
