Why do some memories fade while others stick with us? How can we explain intrusive and painfully vivid memories? From childhood traumas to breakups and burnout, our minds sometimes struggle to file things away properly. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and rewire these distressing memories.
Join accredited EMDR therapist, Jordan McPhail, in breaking down how EMDR works, why it is so effective, and what happens during a session. This talk will explore the science behind memory and trauma, and why EMDR is being used to treat anxiety, PTSD, phobias, and more. Whether you are curious about new ways to support your mental health, or just fascinated by the mind, this talk will deepen your understanding of the healing process and what might be possible for you.
Jordan McPhail is an accredited CBT and EMDR therapist, speaker, and registered mental health nurse with a decade of experience. Her early career spanned NHS crisis teams, inpatient units, forensic services, and rehab, before moving into a leadership and therapy role within Defence Mental Health Services. Today, she works in private practice, helping clients recover from trauma, anxiety, and burnout through a combination of EMDR and approaches that support the nervous system’s natural capacity to heal. She is also the founder of The Gentle Return – an evolving space for people who are ready to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and step away from the constant pressure to do and be more.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
