Inspired by the return of the iconic goddess statues atop of the new Citizens Theatre building and honouring its longstanding creative work with women whose lives are affected by incarceration, homelessness, addiction, poverty, and violence.
Prepare to be taken on a journey exploring home, belonging, survival and (in)visibility, which platforms the experiences and viewpoints of those too often pushed to the margins of our stories.
Presenting songs and spoken word developed over years of collaborative workshops with hundreds of participants, raw emotion and uplifting narratives will be blended with Carol Laula’s passionate vocals and her band’s powerful melodies.
Special guests including Jill Jackson, Lavinia Blackwall, Yvonne Lyon and long-time collaborator, Marco Rea will be joined in the band by Clare Duffin (Suspire) and Amanda Nizic (CJ Duncan/BMX Bandits), alongside a Community Ensemble featuring past and present participants who will fill the theatre with sounds of survival.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
