Glasgow’s literary scene will welcome an international guest this winter as New York Times bestselling author Catherine Newman travels from the United States to appear at Bookface Sip & Swap at Festa Glasgow.
Tickets are now on sale for the event in the city’s west end on Wednesday 4th February and invites readers to bring books to swap, share a drink, nibbles and spend the evening in conversation with one of America’s most loved contemporary writers.
Catherine Newman is the author of bestselling memoirs and novels including We All Want Impossible Things and Sandwich. Her writing is known for its sharp wit, emotional honesty and warmth, and she is a regular contributor to major publications including The New York Times, and Oprah Magazine. Her work explores family life, friendship, ageing, love and loss with humour and empathy, earning her a wide and devoted readership.
The Bookface Sip & Swap format offers a relaxed way for readers to connect, encouraging guests to bring books they no longer need and swap them with others on the night. Alongside the book exchange, guests will hear from Newman directly about her writing process, her career and her latest work, with time for audience questions, book signing and mingling with fellow avid readers.
The event takes place at Festa on Great Western Road, a new venue known for its warm atmosphere and community feel on , making it an ideal setting for an intimate literary evening. Tickets for Bookface Sip & Swap with Catherine Newman are available now via Eventbrite, and early booking is recommended due to limited capacity.
Bookface, founded in 2020 by avid reader and broadcaster Heather Suttie is a reader-led events series designed to bring people together through books, conversation and shared experience, hosting swaps, author evenings and community gatherings across Scotland. Future guests in 2026 include Jennie Godfrey, Gillian McAllister, Sara Sheridan, Chris Brookmyre and Jenny Colgan.
