The countdown to Christmas has never been so big with the incredible calendar set to launch amid a flurry of festive fun at Glasgow’s favourite city centre shopping destination.
Children joining in the fun from 5pm tonight could receive one of hundreds of mini LEGO packs and the chance to win amazing LEGO sets and £250 Buchanan Galleries gift cards. Little onlookers will each receive a special lucky-draw ticket and when the first advent calendar door is opened the lucky winners will be revealed.
There is plenty of family fun to be had with costumed characters, candy canes and Christmas music. Mums, dads, grandparents and visitors will be treated to mince pies, and special guests from Yorkhill Children’s Charity will be on-hand to ensure Christmas cheer is in full supply.
Made with over 600,000 LEGO bricks, the calendar is 3m high and 5m long and will thrill and delight the young and young-at-heart. Located on Buchanan Galleries’ first floor, shoppers will be able to enjoy the calendar as the backdrop to their festive shopping right across December.
In true advent calendar tradition, a door will be opened each day to reveal a 3D LEGO Christmas display including a Christmas cake, a busy elf in Santa’s workshop, the most famous Reindeer of all, a glorious trimmed Christmas tree and – the jewel in the crown – the iconic Duke of Wellington statue, complete with a LEGO traffic cone on his head!
The prizes don’t stop once the first door is opened, as each day until Christmas Eve, Buchanan Galleries will give away a fantastic Christmas gift to a lucky winner – including great toys, fabulous fashion, hampers, beauty must-haves and gift cards. Buchanan Galleries centre manager Kathy Murdoch, said: “We are so excited to be hosting the world’s most unique advent calendar here at Buchanan Galleries. We’re inviting kids, mums and dads, grandparents and friends to join us this evening as we launch this magical Christmas countdown. Of course, be sure to arrive early to get a great spot and to join in on all the festive fun!”
With Scotland’s only LEGO store and over 80 stores opening later in December, plus handy undercover car parking, Buchanan Galleries has everything you need to spoil your loved ones this Christmas.
