People who took caravan holidays as a child consider them as some of their fondest memories. The Easter holidays is the perfect time to recreate those memories and there’s no better place to do it than Argyll.
With celebrities including Mark Owen of Take That Lorraine Kelly and Dame Kelly Holmes all reported to be caravan fans, families who choose a caravan break this year are in good company.
With eight holiday parks across Argyll, Argyll Holidays can help families make caravan memories that will last a lifetime. Here are the short break specialist’s top tips for making the most of a caravan holiday this Easter break:
• Stargaze from the comfort of your caravan balcony. Have you ever wondered what that extra-bright star in the sky is? A caravan holiday is the perfect time to explore the skies above with the family. Try using the Sky View app which helps map out constellations and planets. On a clear night there’s plenty to see from our Drimsynie and Hunters Quay holiday parks.
• The surroundings of our holiday parks are great creative fodder for storytellers. Bring out the inner author in your little ones and encourage them to tell stories using the Argyll scenery as inspiration. Video them or write them down creating a great family memory for years to come. You might just find the next Julia Donaldson.
• Get dirty. Nothing creates a better memory than being caked in mud with a beaming smile. Try something new as a family – quadbike, take an archery lesson or even Water Walk on Loch Goil. Even a simple walk in the woods can turn into a major adventure for little ones.
• Dance Dance Dance. Some of the best caravan memories are made at the disco. Let your hair down and join in. The kids will be super impressed if you can move along with them.
Argyll Holidays parks include: Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village, Hunters Quay Holiday Village, Stratheck, Loch Eck, Loch Awe and Loch Lomond. Just a short drive from Glasgow’s city centre, and with some of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes on its door step, Argyll Holidays’ parks are the ideal location for novice or experienced caravaners.
Recently voted the country’s ‘Best Family Holiday Park’ in the Scottish Outdoor and Leisure Awards 2016, Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village is the perfect retreat for all the family with thrilling outdoor activities from archery and fencing to crazy carts and body zorbing.
There are also a variety of on-site activities for all ages. Children under 7 can learn to ride their bikes with Argyll Holidays Balanceability programme, go on a swashbuckling adventure with the Pirate’s Paradise gang, or even explore Drimsynie with the whole family on the exciting Go Quest! woodland trail.
Hunters Quay is another popular choice for families. The on-site leisure complex is perfect for water babies, where they can spend the weekend splashing around in the two heated swimming pools and even try their hand at snorkelling. For parents looking to relax they can enjoy a quiet minute in the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi - or even visit the on-site spa for an indulgent pamper.
There are a range of caravans available across the holiday parks including the spacious two-bedroom Premier caravan at Drimsynie. Comfortably sleeping a family of four, the lounge area is finished with a stylish and modern interior, and with plenty of seating it is perfect for dining and relaxing with the whole family. The premium caravan also comes complete with a fully equipped kitchen, central heating and a flat screen TV with selected satellite channels.
The two bedroom accessible caravan at Hunters Quay is perfect for families with additional needs. Sleeping four, it has a fully equipped kitchen and an innovative wet room, as well as an accessible private balcony with outdoor furniture.
Prices for a three-night stay in a caravan at Hunters Quay, based on four people sharing, start at £282.
