The Grotto, located on the first floor of the mall, outside Debenhams, will be open daily from Thursday 16th November right up until Christmas Eve, when Santa and his helpers head home to the North Pole.
This year Santa is also hosting a number of ‘quiet sessions’, designed for youngsters with autism or with sensory or learning disabilities or vulnerabilities.
Quiet sessions will be held between 11am and 12pm on 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th of December. Booking online is unavailable as children requiring a space in a quiet slot will be seen on a first come, first served basis.
The initiative is supporting Glasgow City Council in its ambition to make Glasgow the first autism-friendly city in the U.K. These plans include initially developing parts of the city with high footfall into autism-friendly areas. As one of the U.K.’s busiest and favourite shopping destinations, St. Enoch Centre plays a key role in this initiative.
The leading shopping centre is highlighting their commitment to creating an inclusive family friendly shopping and dining experience with the ‘quiet sessions’ which will help to improve a child’s comfort and confidence in a busy shopping centre environment.
During the Grotto quiet sessions, Santa, Rudolph and the Elves will be able to spend more time with children, if they require it, to ensure each child has a very special Christmas experience.
General manager at St. Enoch Centre, Anne Ledgerwood, said: “Christmas is a wonderful time of year for all the family and the busiest time of year for us as a shopping centre. Our Grotto is loved by children of all ages and it is important that all families are able to enjoy the magic of Christmas. The simple change to our Santa’s Grotto will hopefully allow all children and their families to share an enjoyable Christmas day out creating happy family memories”.
A visit to the Grotto costs £5.00 and every guest will receive a special Christmas gift from Santa. There is lots more fun happening in the St. Enoch Centre around Christmas time. To find out more, go to www.st-enoch.com
