Formed in 2001, GLA showcases the best things to do in Glasgow, with suggestions for days out, vouchers and online maps of the city’s sights.
GLA has grown from a small group, to a group of 14 members who collectively have over 5 million visitors a year to their venues. GLA’s vision is ‘to bring together and promote the best attractions in the city to both locals and visitors’. Members include: Celtic Park, City Sightseeing Glasgow, Glasgow Museums, Glasgow Science Centre, Glengoyne Distillery, Ibrox Stadium, Loch Lomond Sea Life Aquarium, Scottish Football Museum at Hampden, The Hunterian, The Tall Ship and Willow Tea Rooms.
GLA worked with local design company, Add Jam who came up with the design concept and the new logo was designed by the GLA Development Group with the support of the design team at Glasgow Science Centre.
Things to Do in Glasgow’s new website is filled with itineraries, offers and events. A new leaflet has been produced for distribution around the city and beyond which offers a guide to each venue and special discount offers for visitors.
Things to do in Glasgow offers a one stop shop for anyone visiting the city’s attractions. GLA works closely with city partners: Glasgow Restaurant Association; Glasgow Subway; People Make Glasgow and VisitScotland to ensure that every visit to Glasgow is special.
Members of GLA were treated to an evening at Clydeside Distillery to launch Things to Do In Glasgow where they heard all about the Dockside Story and met Distillery Manager, Alistair McDonald, who offered them his personal selection of premium single malt whiskies for tasting. The group also enjoyed food and a talk by Bridgeen Mullen, the Visitor Centre Manager.
Anne Mulhern, Chair of GLA, commented: “We are delighted to launch Things to Do in Glasgow after many months of hard work by the group. From small beginnings in 2001, we have grown into a group of 14 member businesses who strive to offer every visitor to the city an exceptional experience - whether they are a local or a visitor. It’s great to have two new members joining the group and we are thrilled to welcome Clydeside Distillery on board – it’s such a great new attraction for the city. Glasgow Taxis are key to ferrying our visitors around the city and around our venues so it made perfect sense for them to join. We are looking forward to an exciting and busy year ahead for our city.”
