The Gloamin will be the first festival to be held in the historic Ayrshire property, hosting live music from Scottish traditional musicians such as Clann an Drumma, Sticks N Kicks, Anna Sweeney, Glen Park Ceilidh Band and more.
Guests will be welcomed by a unique Buskers Trail, where several local performers will lead the way from the entrance to Fountain Court before being entertained by fire jugglers, stilt walkers and a dazzling hula-hoopist.
The festival will also feature a spectacular finale of a burning Wickerman, paying homage to Culzean’s starring role in the Wicker Man movie in 1973.
Throughout the night, traditional fun fair games such as Hook a Duck and Tin Can Alley will entertain the latter, while the grown-ups can enjoy the bar set up in the 18th century Orangery.
Commenting on The Gloamin, Clann an Drumma piper and vocalist Dougie Wilkinson said: “We’re really excited as festivals like The Gloamin give us the chance to show another side of the band as a lot of our gigs are focused on the bagpipes and drums. Here we can perform our very own acoustic songs.
“Music events in locations like Culzean are second to none – as well as a guaranteed atmosphere, playing in historic venues adds to the magic on the night.”
The family friendly festival is already proving popular with the early bird ticket offer completely sold out. Created by Culzean Castle’s event manager, Paige Campbell, the festival is a mix of live music, entertainment and activities.
Speaking ahead of the event, Paige said: We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone along to the first ever Gloamin festival at Culzean Castle. It’s set to be a great place for families and music fanatics alike with something for everyone to enjoy. We’re delighted to have sold out the early bird tickets so fast as every penny raised goes towards the National Trust for Scotland protecting and caring for Culzean Castle for future generations to enjoy.”
Ayrshire born Anna Sweeney and her band will also be playing at the festival. Anna said: “This comes at such a great time as we have a new single coming out today (Friday 14 June) and The Gloamin will be the first time it’ll be performed live! I don’t get to play in front of a home crowd very often – especially not in Ayrshire – so it’ll be great to see a lot of familiar faces and to feel all nostalgic at Culzean Culzean thinking back on school trips and visits with my family.
“The band and I can’t wait to perform. We’ve decided to strip things back a bit so we can really have fun with the crowd and hopefully introduce our music to people who might not have come across us before.”
The festival costs just £12.50 for an adult, £8.50 for a child and £40.50 for a family ticket (2x adults, 2x children).
