Let’s get ready to Freddie! Hard Rock International is kicking off its annual celebration of the life and music of the legendary Freddie Mercury by hosting “Freddie for a Week” from Thursday 5th September 2019 – Freddie Mercury’s birthday – through Thursday, 12th September 2019. In honour of the iconic front man, Hard Rock Cafe® Glasgow and Edinburgh will be rocking in Freddie’s honour with Freddie-themed events, a limited-time milkshake and exclusive merchandise that benefits The Mercury Phoenix Trust, a UK charity created in memory of Freddie Mercury by Queen band members Brian May and Roger Taylor together with their manager Jim Beach to support the global fight against HIV/AIDS.
Fans who head to Hard Rock® to celebrate “Freddie for a Week” can dig into a Freddie’s Moustache Milkshake, which combines bourbon and dark rum with vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate sauce before being topped with white chocolate whipped cream and an iconic chocolate brownie mustache. The Instagram-worthy milkshake will also be available in a non-alcoholic version for fans of all ages to enjoy. Those looking to celebrate while wearing Freddie-inspired merchandise can stop by the Cafe’s Rock Shop® or visit https://shop.hardrock.com to purchase limited-edition t-shirts and a pin featuring an iconic image of Freddie on stage.
“We are excited to honour Freddie Mercury’s memory as a legendary singer, songwriter and record producer by hosting ‘Freddie for a Week’ at Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow and our neighboring restaurant Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh,” said Ferid Thabet, General Manager at Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow. “Freddie for a Week provides a unique opportunity for fans to come out to the Cafes and celebrate the iconic life and music of Freddie Mercury with us, while supporting The Mercury Phoenix Trust.”
To commemorate Freddie with a celebration as memorable as the rock legend himself, Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will be celebrating “Freddie for a Week” by decorating the cafe in Queen themed decorations and playing the legendary songs all day long which will have your feet tapping away under the table as you delve into some of Hard Rock’s tasty offerings, like their Freddie Moustache Milkshakes.
Think of yourself as a big Queen fan? Well why don’t you join in with the Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow staff and dress as Freddie for the day. Customers who make the special effort to come dressed as Freddie will receive a 15% discount off their main meal! But make sure you don’t forget the moustache! Customers can buy Freddie moustaches in Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow with proceeds going to The Mercury Phoenix Trust.
If that wasn’t enough, Hard Rock Cafe Glasgow will also be hosting a “Drag Brunch” on Sunday 8th September 2019. Celebrating all things Queen, the drag brunch is a family friendly event that will have you saying, “I’m having such a good time”! Tickets are £10 for children and £15 for adults. Ticket cost includes a showstopping breakfast and £5 from each ticket will go to The Mercury Phoenix Trust. Tickets on sale now.
Joining the Glasgow venue, Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh will also be celebrating the one and only Freddie from 5th to 12th September. Alongside serving delicious Freddie’s Moustache Milkshakes with £1 for every milkshake sold going to the The Mercury Phoenix Trust and Freddie moustaches, Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh will be breaking free of their typical Thursday night service on 5th September by inviting a DJ along to play all the Queen classics in the evening from 7pm and 9pm whilst staff dress up as the renowned Rockstar.
