Following the success of ‘Ghost Ship’ in October, CCC will be delivering the perfect festive fun for the whole family with ‘Santa’s Postbox’.
In keeping with their objective of providing children and families with a unique, fun-filled introduction to live orchestral music CCC will pair popular festive classics with seasonal orchestral works. Expect some festive surprises with an exciting medley exploring the more unfamiliar instruments of the orchestra, and Artistic Director, Presenter and percussionist, Owen Gunnell, will perform an innovative version of a seasonal favourite whilst preparing Christmas Dinner for Santa - transforming culinary items into musical instruments.
The audience will be invited along on a frosty escapade (with the traditional sleigh-ful of shenanigans!): Santa’s postbox is overflowing with Christmas wishes this year, and he’s feeling a little snowed under so he’s called upon Owen, the RSNO and RSNO Junior Chorus to help clear the backlog! There will be plenty of CCC sparkle, seasonal singalongs and a whole host of musical delicacies to enjoy: treats from The Nutcracker, delights from Hansel & Gretel and even some Mariah Carey...’Santa’s Postbox’ promises to be the perfect entertainment to get the whole family’s festive season off to a flying start.
“It was incredible being back in the concert hall with ‘Ghost Ship’! The audiences in both Glasgow and Edinburgh were fantastic; we were delighted by the levels of interaction and the feedback we got post concert was so positive. People are definitely ready to enjoy live music again! We are really looking forward to bringing ‘Santa’s Postbox’ to stage, and I’m especially looking forward to the newly-commissioned ‘Christmas Dinner Medley’!” said Owen Gunnell, CCC Artistic Director
You can catch Santa's Postbox on the following dates:
4th December – Glasgow Royal Concert Hall – 12.30pm and 3pm
5th December – Usher Hall, Edinburgh – 3pm
