The new Merchant Square Christmas Market
Merchant Square’s market recently got a makeover with more makers and traders joining its popular line-up. The Merchant Square Christmas market will run every Saturday and Sunday from 23rd November until 22nd December. There will be more than 30 stalls featuring new makers every week and shoppers can find a wide range of unique Christmas gifts and shop under the twinkling lights and warmth of the Square.

Glasgow’s Christmas Lights Switch On
If you’re heading into the city this Sunday for Glasgow’s big switch-on in George Square, pop into Merchant Square in the afternoon and enjoy FREE chocolate treats from Sano, Christmas carols by Evans Chou studio, and the chance to meet everyone’s favourite Christmas character, The Grinch. Merchant Square will also be launching its Christmas gift appeal in aid of Routes, Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs' youth work programme which supports young people in East and West Dunbartonshire, aged 12-26 years, who are affected by a loved one’s alcohol and drug use. People are encouraged to bring along presents and place under the tree for collection. Gifts suitable for teenagers, such as sportswear, gift vouchers, toiletries and art and craft sets would be gratefully received. A suggested list of ideas can be found here.
Merchant Square’s Hogmanay Party of the Year is Back!
Bring in the bells at Glasgow’s favourite Hogmanay which is back by popular demand with the best atmosphere, all under one roof. The party will be hosted by DJ Colin McArdle, the famous Merchant Square Ceilidh returns, and there will be entertainment from The French Fling Showgirls, Alika Sax performance and The Soundtrax and of course, the best welcome in of the new year. Tickets are £30 and can be purchased from O’Neill’s, Vodka Wodka, Sano, Table Twenty Eight, Bar Soba and The Tap Yard from Friday 15th November. Strictly over 18s only. For more information see here.
Christmas shoppers are welcome to make a pit stop at Merchant Square and take a break from buying gifts to enjoy a refuel in one of the many bars and restaurants in the Square which include Pania, Table Twenty Eight, Bar Soba, O’Neill’s, The Tap Yard, Vodka Wodka and Sano.
