Radisson Blu Glasgow is proud to announce a collaboration with Yardworks, SWG3’s renowned street art and graffiti programme which is based at Scotland’s first purpose-built street arts studio, giving local creatives the opportunity to showcase their skills using the facade of the hotel as their canvas.
Taking inspiration from the hotel’s recent sponsorship of the King’s Theatre pantomime, Peter Pan, the artwork will span the front left of the hotel, an impressive eight panes of glass, displaying the artists’ unique take on the panto – infusing iconic Glasgow references with the well-known fairytale storyline.
Visitors to the city can fully immerse themselves in the culture and creativity prevalent throughout Glasgow by visiting Radisson Blu Glasgow from today, Friday 22 November, and seeing the artwork for themselves – from the Lost Boys reimagined as skateboarders, to well-known sights such as the George Square and the Central Station clock, through to an urban reimagination of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.
This collaboration, in time for the festive season, highlights Radisson Blu Glasgow’s commitment to becoming a key cultural destination in Glasgow. Yardworks delivers a year round programme of community engagement, public arts and mentoring focused on urban arts, with the flagship event being Yardworks Festival in early May, showcasing talent from across the world and attracting more than 7000 visitors to SWG3’s Galvanizers Yard every year.
Hina Rubbani-Mills, General Manager at Radisson Blu Glasgow, said: “At Radisson Blu Glasgow we’re committed to supporting the city’s arts and culture, and there’s no better way to do this than to open our doors to local artists and allow them to showcase their creativity on the hotel. Our location, just a stone’s throw away from Central Station, means we see a high level of footfall passing by and through the hotel – whether to sample the delicious menu at The Grahamston or indulge in an after-work drink – ensuring a prime canvas for emerging artists that will reach far and wide. We’re delighted to collaborate with Yardworks to bring something truly unique to Glasgow.”
Laura Frood at SWG3, said: “It’s been great to work with the team at Radisson Blu Glasgow on this project. Commissions like this help to support the delivery of our artist mentoring programme, which aims to bridge skills gaps between grass roots and art school educated artists, which has always been a motivation of ours - plus this one was really fun for all involved.”
Known for its vibrant cultural scene, Glasgow offers everything from free museums to cutting-edge street art. Radisson Blu Glasgow, serves as the perfect gateway to the city’s arts scene—where creativity and style meet. The collaboration reflects the hotel’s mission to foster creativity, making it a must-visit destination for both local and international visitors.
This artwork also marks Radisson Blu Glasgow’s sponsorship of King’s Theatre’s 120th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of its beloved pantomime, reinforcing the hotel’s strong commitment to Glasgow’s rich heritage and arts community.
