Folk pop band Tide Lines stop Glasgow commuters with surprise busk crawl
Glasgow commuters were stopped in their tracks yesterday as folk-pop favourites Tide Lines brought live music to the Subway in a surprise 'busk crawl'.

The band popped up at stations across the Subway map, including Partick and Buchanan Street, performing stripped-back songs from their upcoming album Glasgow Love Story, set for release this Friday (April 25). Despite wet weather, crowds gathered and sang along, with a crowd amassing outside Skye Candles.
The pop-up gigs were all part of the build-up to their biggest headline show yet – The Reeling at Rouken Glen Park.
Now in its second year, The Reeling, Glasgow’s summer celebration of traditional music has quickly become a staple in the music calendar. Tide Lines will headline the Friday night, joined by fellow Scottish favourites Siobhan Miller Band, Beinn Lee and Gnoss.
Festival-goers can look forward to two lively stages, a family-friendly ceilidh area, and some of the best Scottish food and drink around.
It’s another major moment in a milestone year for the band. With their fourth studio album Glasgow Love Story set for release on 25 April, singles like By The Quayside, Leaving Town and the nostalgic Better Days have already captured fans’ hearts. The album blends driving indie-folk and evocative storytelling in a way only Tide Lines can.
From their early days in Glasgow’s West End bars to selling out three nights at Barrowlands, the band’s bond with the city runs deep.
Frontman Robert Robertson said: “It was amazing to see so many people come out to watch us – even in the rain! We never take that kind of support for granted.
“There was such a buzz in the stations, especially with everyone singing along. We can’t wait to do it all again at The Reeling in June.
“Our new album, Glasgow Love Story, is out this Friday. It’s full of songs written for this city – about its people, its streets, the memories we’ve made here. So getting to play them right in the heart of Glasgow, where they belong, felt really special.”
After The Reeling, they’ll hit the road for a packed summer of festival appearances, including Belladrum, HebCelt and a free show at Aberdeen’s Quayside Concerts, before a headline UK tour in the autumn.
