The exclusive members’ club, which also has Members’ Rooms in London and Edinburgh and partner bars across the globe, hosts a diverse array of whisky tasting events each week. Normally for members only, tickets are now available to all whisky fans so they can get a taste of the Society experience.
The Glasgow home of the Society, which bottles limited edition single malt single cask whisky from distilleries across Scotland and beyond, runs a weekly series of ‘Foodie Friday’ tasting events, which bring a taste of off-the-beaten track whiskies paired with different cuisines that might not usually be paired with whisky.
Upcoming events include a summer BBQ and whisky tasting, where attendees will be treated to a flight of three rare drams paired with a BBQ feast, a Sunday Roast with a three-dram tasting, a Mexican food and whisky pairing, a five-dram celebration of Islay and peated whisky, and more.
Located in the heart of Glasgow, 40 Bath Street is the Society’s newest Members’ Room and whisky bar, boasting a colourful collection of over 850 cask strength bottlings by the dram, alongside a selection of the finest craft beers, artisanal spirits, cocktails and wines. The expert bar staff are available to guide guests through the rare whiskies and unusual taste and experience pairings.
Johnny Love, Venue Manager of 40 Bath Street, said: “Events like ‘Foodie Fridays’ are a really exciting and unexpected way of exploring the world of whisky, with unique flavour pairings picked for each week’s event – where else can you try three single cask whiskies paired with a flight of Moroccan-inspired delicacies?
“This is a fantastic opportunity for whisky fans in Glasgow to get a glimpse behind the curtain at the Society, see the private members’ room and try a few of the 850 cask strength bottlings available in the bar. We look forward to introducing whisky fans to the Society experience!”
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is renowned for its exceptional single cask releases, experimental and explorative small batch blended releases and flavour-first approach, offering members exclusive access to unique whiskies, expert curation and a vibrant whisky community.
