Too fast to be last! BBC Gladiators Apollo and Athena set to start AJ Bell Junior and Mini Great Scottish Run Races 2025

Famous for their catchphrases “Too fast to be last, too strong to be wrong” and “You can run, but you can’t hide” — BBC Gladiators Alex Gray (Apollo) and Karenjeet Kaur Bains (Athena) have been confirmed as race starters for the AJ Bell Junior and Mini Great Scottish Run 2025 on Saturday 4 October in Glasgow.
The TV stars will ring the starting bell, cheer young runners over the finish line, and meet families as 2,000 children take part in the sold-out Junior and Mini events at Glasgow Green.
Apollo said: “We’re delighted to be returning to the AJ Bell Junior and Mini Great Scottish Run this October. Inspiring a love for sports and staying active in young people is at the heart of our mission and something we deeply care about. It was a true joy to see so many young runners enjoying themselves last year and we can’t wait to ring that bell to set runners on their way, before cheering them across the finish line!”
The Junior and Mini events kick off a spectacular weekend of sport, with more than 34,000 runners set to take part across two days. On Sunday 5 October, 32,000 participants will line up for the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run 10km and Half Marathon, making it Scotland’s biggest weekend of running.
This year’s event is set to be the biggest ever Great Scottish Run, with only a limited number of places remaining in the 10km & Half Marathon distances. With the Half Marathon expected to sell out in the next 24 hours and places selling fast for the 10k, sign up now via www.greatrun.org
