Glasgow Warriors Pete Horne to run in Half Marathon
Glasgow Warriors legend and current Scotland Assistant Coach Pete Horne will join thousands this weekend at the 2025 AJ Bell Great Scottish Run start line on St Vincent Street.

He will be among 32,000 runners taking part in Scotland’s biggest running weekend in the 10km and Half Marathon to raise money for the Warriors’ official charity partner, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, through the club’s Fighting for our Families campaign.
To date the campaign has raised over £155,000 for GCHC and the Warriors aim to build on that success as they launch a third year of fundraising at the half marathon this Sunday with current players Rory Darge and Ollie Smith due to start the race.
Also joining Pete in running the half marathon are former teammates Colin Gregor and Calum Forrester along with several members of Glasgow Warriors staff.
Fans can also look forward to a fun-filled Saturday at Glasgow Green, with a rugby passing challenge, players meeting families, and Clyde the Warrior taking on Great Run mascot Tyney in a race of their own – it’s not to be missed!
Looking ahead to this weekend former Warrior and current Scotland Coach, Pete Horne, says, “I’ve seen first-hand through my time at Glasgow Warriors just how much of a difference Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity makes to young patients and their families. The Fighting For Our Families campaign is something very close to my heart, and I’m proud to be taking on the Great Scottish Run this year to help raise funds and awareness.
The Warrior Nation and the wider Scottish Rugby community have always rallied behind great causes, and I’m hoping as many people as possible will join me in supporting this one.”
