"Join Vicky from The Little Foragers Kitchen and spend an afternoon foraging, relaxing and reconnecting with Nature.
People are always so surprised to learn that there are just as many wild plants growing feral in the city as in the countryside. In fact, sometimes there’s more opportunity in urban settings as there are not only native plants, but cultivated garden escapees and also our city parks, with Glasgow boasting some truly beautiful urban “wild spaces”
Our urban forage will start at Soulfood Café on Sauchiehall Street. We will head over to Kelvingrove Park where we will take a leisurely stroll around the pond and meet a variety of fresh greens, edible flowers and herbs for delicious foods and teas.
We will meet some of the most powerful medicinal plants in the world and some of our native psychotropics, all hiding in plain sight.
As we wander around this beautiful city space, we will explore some of the rich folklore that our ancestors have woven across time around our green friends.
We shall finish our walk at Soulfood kitchen, where we can enjoy a drink and a piece of cake.
You will receive an email listing all the plants we identified and discussed during the walk, along with some recipes for you to try at home.
This a family friendly event and children under 12yrs are free. Each child must be accompanied by an adult and must have a ticket. Child places are limited to two per adult.
This event will only take place subject to a minimum number of attendees.
Vicky Manning is the founder of The Little Foragers Kitchen and a member of The Association of Foragers. Our ancestors depended on Nature to supply them with food, medicine and shelter. Their supermarket, pharmacy and equivalent of B & Q was literally right outside their house. Vicky is passionate about helping people of all ages to reconnect with this lost knowledge, in an accessible and fun way.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
