From birth, our children are learning new things at an incredible speed. As they learn new things they increase their knowledge, experiences, capabilities and with that their confidence to use them.
As children get older, that confidence can be as important as the skills themselves. To thrive, kids need to trust in their own capabilities while, at the same time, knowing that they can handle it if they aren’t successful at something. It’s by experiencing and rebounding from mistakes or failure that they develop healthy self-confidence.
However, for various reasons their confidence, self-worth and self-esteem can be impacted particularly during those challenging adolescent years.
This peer support call for parents and carers will explore what confidence and self worth are, and look at ways in which we can support our kids to build their self-confidence and self worth so that they can become more resourceful and create bright futures for themselves.
The call is on Zoom and will be a combination of our own input, group conversation, support for each other and identifying what you would like to take away and think about or put into action. You will receive the Zoom link in the registration confirmation.
The Connected Families programme is open to all parents & carers of children aged 8 plus. It includes these regular parent peer support calls ; access to our membership area full of resources ; and regular emails with family activities and parenting articles.
Thanks to funding Glasgow City Council & Foundation Scotland if you live in Glasgow there is also free to access life coaching for you and/or you children to help your family thrive.
