What will happen during the course?
You will be guided step-by-step through the screen printing process, be introduced to the various pieces of equipment in the Print Clan studio and gain confidence in printing independently. Over the six weeks you will be encouraged to experiment with colour, shape and pattern to develop interesting designs across a range of fabrics.
You will leave the course with a selection of samples using the different techniques, including printing with paper stencils and an exposed screen. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work towards a final print or you can choose to print onto plain tote bags, tea towels or t-shirts.
The price for the course includes one year’s membership to Print Clan, allowing you to book space in the studio to continue printing after the end of the course.
What experience do I need?
This course is perfect for complete beginners or those who wish to refresh their skills.
Equipment Provided:
Equipment and materials such as screens, squeegees, a range of ink colours, chemicals, paper, pens, cutting mats and knives are all included. Fabric is not provided so you are required to bring fabric for printing along with you - natural fabrics such as a plain cotton or linen give the best results. You can also bring along merchandise to print onto such as totes and cushion covers and you may want to take notes and sketch out ideas in a sketchbook.
Your Tutor:
Rachel is a printed textile designer and graduate of Glasgow School of Art’s BA (Hons) Textile Design. She is an experienced art workshop host and joined Print Clan as Studio Graduate in April 2023 through GCAS scheme.
