We would love to welcome you to one of our online Tinnitus Support Meetings via Zoom. The 18th August session will also include a short focus session entitled Tinnitus and Personality Types.
Being among other people with Tinnitus, listening to their stories and finding out how they have coped can be a great help. Alan Hopkirk, an expert in Tinnitus, has witnessed this firsthand whilst hosting previous support group meetings. These include the British Tinnitus Association's Glasgow and West of Scotland Group. It is lovely to see the difference it makes to meeting attendees, especially newly diagnosed ones.
Tinnitus is experiencing sounds without an external source. Many aren't troubled by them. However, for around 10%, the condition seriously affects their quality of life, leading to stress, anxiety, or even depression. Tinnitus can be isolating. Friends and family struggle to understand how it feels to adapt to the presence of loud or continuous unrelenting noises. (That's why we welcome family members to either sit with you at your viewing device. Alternatively, they can register separately to watch/take part on their device)
Alan Hopkirk is a Glasgow-based audiologist and an acknowledged expert in Tinnitus. He speaks with authority on the subject and offers sensible and practical advice. Alan hosts THIS (the annual Tinnitus and Hearing Information Show).
Alan will be happy to receive any questions in advance via email to clear@invizear.com. Please include your name and details of the meeting for which you have registered.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
