Join us to celebrate the 124th birthday of PPWG, which will be a Gray Day, acknowledging the part of artist Alasdair Gray in getting the Winter Gardens open again for the 80th birthday of the building, 22 January 1978, following a 12 year closure.
Expect unusual appearances. Lord Rosebery is rumoured to be joining us, as is the architect Alexander Beith McDonald. There will be music, stories and cake!
No tickets; just turn up and join in. All welcome!
In celebration of 124 years of public ownership, we will be wrapping a big yellow ribbon around the old PPWG to hug our neglected social history collections and destroyed winter garden. The ribbon affirms that the building and it’s collections is all our stuff, and that Glasgow Council must take bold action to restore it to us. It is not for sale, not for re-imagining and not for re-purposing.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
