Learn to dance blues every week at Thursday Night Blues! But what IS blues dancing, you may ask...
It's a vintage partner dance, rooted in African-American culture and music, with a history dating back to the 1890s. Since then, it has developed through blues music, and waves of cultural change, to become a rich and dynamic collection of dance styles with something for everyone.
We have a variety of experienced teachers with different interests and approaches who take it in turns to teach each week, and over time you will learn a rich dance vocabulary of different moves, styles and techniques.
We have an all-levels class and a social dance every Thursday, (apart from five week months, where the fifth Thursday is an extended social from 8-10pm) so why not join us! And if you fall in love with Blues and intend to continue coming on a regular basis, stamp cards are available at a discount to cover multiple classes.
TNB is an LGBTQ-friendly, and body-positive space which does not permit any forms of abusive behaviour. Our code of conduct can be found on our website.
Covid Mitigations
We are no longer requiring people to book in advance, take a lateral flow test, or show proof of vaccination.
However, we do ask that if you or anyone you are in close contact with, has Covid symptoms, please stay away from class!
We keep the windows open for ventilation, we have hand sanitiser available, and please feel free to wear a mask if you wish!
We look forward to seeing you one Thursday!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
