Reshma brings her unique renditions of the Gandharva Veda Ragas to the Transcendental Meditation Centre in Glasgow. Harmoniously transporting us to a state of tranquillity with the music of nature.
Indian classical music is traditionally known as Gandharva Veda, which has been described as the melody from which all other melodies take their source, the music of nature. There are melodies – or Ragas – for different times of the day reflecting the different laws of nature operating during the 24 hour period. Listening to these melodies, especially when it is a live performance, is said to neutralise stress and fatigue, revitalise mind and body and also to create an influence of peace and harmony in the surroundings.
Reshma has a strong international presence through her soulful music, live performances and prestigious awards. She has been regularly performing in different European and Middle Eastern Countries as well as in the United States.
Reshma will be accompanied by Vijay Kangutkar on Tabla for the evening performance on Wednesday 2nd of November. Vijay Kangutkar is a musician of the Indian classical tradition and a specialist in the Tabla. Born in Mumbai, India, he is now the only full time Hindustani classical musician in Scotland, where he teaches music.
