The Lantern Festival, also called Yuan Xiao Festival (元宵节) is a traditional Chinese festival commemorated every 15th day of the first month in the lunisolar Chinese calendar. It falls on 5th February in 2023, and it signifies the last day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations. Come along to celebrate this special day with us with a fun afternoon of Chinese arts and cultural activities for families and friends.
Activities include:
- Lantern Making Workshop
- Calligraphy Writing
- Get a free calligraphy tattoo
- Chinese craft fair
- traditional Chinese instrument performances
- Ancient Chinese costume demonstration
This event is a joint celebration between Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre, Confucius Institute at the University of Glasgow, and Merchant Square.
