The CUT & RUN: 25 years card labour exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art will reveal for the first time the stencils used to create many of Banksy's iconic works from across his career!

“I’ve kept these stencils hidden away for years, mindful they could be used as evidence in a charge of criminal damage. But that moment seems to have passed, so now I’m exhibiting them in a gallery as works of art. I’m not sure which is the greater crime” – Banksy

The show includes authentic artefacts, ephemera and the artist’s actual toilet. Staged at Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), it will run for three months and open all night at weekends.

If it proves popular, the show may then tour. The artist has been plagued by a number of unsanctioned global exhibitions in recent years.

Banksy is one of the most famous and successful street artists in the world, and his work has had a significant impact on popular culture.

Active since the 1990s, his satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique. His works of political and social commentary have appeared on streets, walls and bridges throughout the world.

Banksy's work often makes use of ironic juxtapositions to convey its messages. For example, he has painted a picture of a chimpanzee dressed as a soldier holding a gun, or a group of children playing with a toy tank.

Banksy's identity remains a mystery, but his work has become one of the most recognizable and popular forms of street art in the world. He has been credited with helping to bring street art to a wider audience, and his work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world.

Important Info:
A limited amount of walk up tickets are available each day from the box office.

At weekends we are open all night but please be aware the show contains tight spaces, fragile items and disorientating light effects, if you show up appearing to be very intoxicated you may be refused entry.
