Have you little or no sewing experience? Would you love to turn your old clothes, or your child's old clothes, into a forever treasure? Patch Work is a new twice-weekly quilt club in Glasgow. We draw inspiration from improv quilters from around the world, including the incredible Gee's Bend Quilters who followed no pattern or script and turned used clothes and rags into bold works of art.
Tuesdays 7.30pm - 10pm
On Tuesdays, we welcome the city's mothers to bring along their threads (and their threadbare selves), to enjoy a mocktail, listen to some tunes, and be guided to turn that bag of memories into something that doesn't need to be squashed into the back of a cupboard.
Thursdays 7.30pm - 10pm
On Thursdays it's all about those clothes that don't fit anymore, or things that you once loved but have grown bored of? Save them from landfill by transforming them into something beautiful and useful. Once again, we we will put on the tunes, serve up the mocktails, and guide you to cut up, play and stitch.
Improv quilting is about letting go of expectations, permitting yourself time to play, losing yourself in the process of making, and connecting with your personal aesthetic.
These sessions are led by Claire Bell, founder of The Pony Club (and the Outdoor Playbarn). Any questions, email ponyclubglasgow@gmail.com.
