Set to be held at August House, this inspiring monthly gathering promises an afternoon filled with sipping, swapping, and engaging discussions with one of the UK's most renowned authors.
Sara Sheridan, a prolific writer, and passionate activist with a keen interest in female history, is poised to enthral audiences with her insights and experiences in the literary world. Boasting over 20 books to her name, including her latest novel The Secrets of Blythswood Square, Sheridan's works have garnered critical acclaim and amassed a dedicated following.
Renowned for her ability to resurrect forgotten narratives and shine a light on the often-overlooked contributions of women throughout history, Sheridan's novels have left an indelible mark on the literary landscape. From her award-winning debut Truth or Dare, which clinched the Scottish Library Award and was shortlisted for the Saltire, to her more recent masterpiece The Fair Botanists, chosen as Waterstones' Scottish Book of the Year in 2022, Sheridan's storytelling prowess knows no bounds.
Beyond her literary achievements, Sheridan's influence extends to various media platforms. As an occasional journalist, she has lent her voice to BBC Radio 4's "From Our Own Correspondent" and explored themes of womanhood on "Women's Hour." In 2019, Sheridan embarked on a ground-breaking project with Historic Environment Scotland, reimagining Scotland's history through the lens of its remarkable women. The resulting book, "Where are the Women," earned accolades and sparked vital conversations about representation and recognition.
At the Bookface Sip & Swap event, attendees will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Sheridan's world as they swap titles, sip on refreshments, and participate in a 45-minute Q&A session with the esteemed author. With 400 titles available for swapping, there's bound to be something for everyone at this vibrant literary gathering.
