Migrant Voice is hosting a series of training sessions to support all migrants in creating their own narratives. Join us to learn how to develop compelling messages about the positive impact of migration.
At our second Media Lab session this Spring, we will practise editing interview recordings, writing for the media, interviewing for podcasts, and more. Let’s work together to get our stories published and shape the public discourse on migration! We welcome all migrants, regardless of your circumstances, background or profession. Whether you’re a sports- or a businessperson, a carer, a nurse, a cleaner, a teacher, a builder, an asylum seeker not allowed to work, or simply a person who has something to say - come to tell your story and help other migrants share theirs.
The training sessions we offer this time are:
Bring your writing - One-to-one session with a professional journalist who will read and provide feedback on your writing. 5.00 - 6.30 pm (individual time slots of approx. 20 minutes will be allocated). Priority will be given to those who signed up for this session at our previous Media Lab but were placed on a waiting list.
Come with an idea - A session for migrants who have an idea for writing an article but don’t know where to start or need some help structuring it. 5.00 - 6.30 pm, one-to-one or small group session.
Editing audio interviews - Select the most compelling quotes from our audio interviews with migrants and learn to edit audio recordings in Canva. 5.30 - 6.30 pm.
Interviewing for podcasts - Get to know professional standards for interviewers and learn to conduct and record good audio interviews. Come up with engaging questions and bring interesting answers out of your interviewees. You will practise interviewing in pairs or small groups. 6.30 - 9.00 pm
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
