About Ending the Fossil Fuel Era: How to win a just transition with Mitzi Jonelle Tan

Speakers:
• Mitzi Jonelle Tan, Filipina youth climate justice activist
• Rosie Hampton, Just Transition campaigner Friends of the Earth Scotland
• Claire Larkin, Director of Parents for Future Scotland
• Chair: Liz Murray, Global Justice Now

The fossil fuel industry is stealing our future and making record profits while they’re doing it. It’s time to stop them.

Activists and governments from some of the most climate vulnerable countries are spearheading the demand for a Fossil Fuel Treaty: a global exit plan to end the era of oil, coal and gas. This is a fight for the future and for the transition to clean, green energy that leaves no worker, community or country behind.

Global Justice Now and allies are hosting renowned Filipina youth climate justice activist Mitzi Jonelle Tan in the UK for discussions about how we can challenge plans for damaging new fossil fuel projects around the world and how a Fossil Fuel Treaty could help us win a globally just transition.

Mitzi is on the steering committee of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and has been instrumental in pushing the campaign forward since its inception. She has been a strong advocate for an anti-colonial and intersectional approach to the climate crisis and is committed to systemic change and collectively building a world that prioritises people and the planet, through organising, global solidarity, and collective action.

Join us to connect the global with the local and strategise together about how we can end the fossil fuel era.
