Featuring the legendary rhythm section of Fugazi—Joe Lally on bass and Brendan Canty on drums—alongside experimental guitarist Anthony Pirog, The Messthetics have redefined instrumental music with their genre-blurring sound.
Their collaboration with James Brandon Lewis, one of contemporary jazz’s most dynamic voices, adds a thrilling new dimension. Born out of spontaneous on-stage chemistry in 2019, this partnership evolved into a bold studio album recorded over just two days. The result is a masterful interplay of punk vigor, free-jazz improvisation, and avant-garde textures.
