This laughter yoga session will be a chance to come together and get some exercise through laughter! Join Aileen McCormack, Counsellor and Laughter Yoga Leader, for this laughter yoga session. The session will focus on cultivating laughter with some games and activities for you to try out in a supportive and fun environment.
The Event:
As adults we often don’t laugh enough in our daily lives instead waiting until we find something funny. Laughter Yoga is a combination of intentional laughter, movement and breathing exercises developed in India by Dr Madan Kataria in the mid nineties.
There are many health benefits to laughter. The benefits of laughter include:
- lifting our mood
- improving our breathing
- boosting oxygen supply
- reducing stress and tension
- improving our social connection
- building resilience and positivity
Whether you are have taken part in laughter yoga before or are an absolute beginner, you will receive full instruction and support throughout from Aileen.
In the session we will do:
- Some warm-up movement and laughter exercises to prepare our bodies for laughter
- Some games and activities which induce laughter and help connect us to each other
- Laughter meditation, involving a guided meditation and unstructured laughter
- Some laughter singing
We will work together as a group and you can participate as much as you are able to, no pressure!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
