This year’s platform features a performance by South African artist Thulisile Binda, and new works by Artist Voice residents MC Laffitte and patsy.
Binda's performances are renowned for their raw physicality, distinctive musicality, and powerful narratives conveyed through the body. Her performance, Hard But Fragile, uses the Sjambok in a series of whipping movements to create a kind of harmony and meditation, reflecting on how one builds strength from pain.
MC Laffite is a French-Cameroonian dancer who started her dance journey in Scotland eight years ago, connecting with the Hip-Hop community and training in African diasporic dance styles. In her practice, she uses movement to express herself, find a sense of freedom and connect with the people surrounding her. For the residency, MC will develop a piece centred around the theme of infinity.
patsy is a multidisciplinary artist and creative entrepreneur based in Glasgow, Scotland. Rooted in her Cameroonian and Congolese heritage, she weaves storytelling, culture, and social impact into everything she does. For the residency, patsy will spend her time developing a piece called Anna: Between calm + chaos.
