Time, Peas, Crochet and Permaculture

About Time, Peas, Crochet and Permaculture

Join Glasgow Community Food Network, National Theatre of Scotland Arist in Residence with Communities, Rebecca Livesey-Wright and Permaculture Educator, Lusi Alderslowe for a relaxed event at Possobilities.

In this session, we'll introduce you to crochet techniques and support you to create a crochet panel which you can contribute to a collaborative artwork or take home with you. We'll also make seed pots from recycled material and supply you with seeds to plant and grow at home. Throughout the session, Rebecca and Food and Climate Action project Community Activators will chat with Lusi about permaculture principles, and explore how these intersect with Rebecca's artistic approach - you're welcome to get involved in the conversation or sit back, craft and listen.

Rebecca has been Artist in Residence at Possobilities since December 2024, working on the project, Sow, Grow, Reap exploring connections between food, time and disability. They are working with communities at the centre to build a living sculpture of woven trellises for peas to climb. Throughout the process, Rebecca has been thinking about how people with disabilities and neurodivergent people relate to time: in a world where time is 'precious' and pressured and where our time is valued according to what we are able to produce in a set period, what does it mean to slow down and to be more intentional in how we relate to our food, when growing, eating and preparing it?

Lusi Alderslowe is a permaculture educator of adults and children. She writes, "I am a Permaculture Design Course teacher, a senior tutor for the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design, a LAND/ScotLAND tutor, a Forest School Leader, a Branching Out Leader, a Trainer of Teachers, an author of the Children in Permaculture Manual, and LGBT+. My business is a freelance social enterprise based on the permaculture ethics of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share."

Suitable for beginner's to both crochet and permaculture.
