Throughout the course you will participate in a range of solo, partnered and ensemble movement activities, exploring techniques which are associated with storytelling and narrative devices.
The course provides a supportive environment to experiment with different physical approaches which build confidence to make bold choices connected to the narrative. You will develop your ability to work collaboratively with other to create ensemble movement for film.
This summer school is suited to students aged 16+ who are interested in movement and physical theatre.
By the end of the course, you will have:
Explored the techniques associated with movement and physical in the context of narrative filmmaking;
Developed your practical and choreographic skills in solo, partner and ensemble movement for film;
Collaborated in a team to develop movement for film;
Developed and filmed a short project to showcase in your portfolio.
Join Steve Russell who founded JUMP: Physical Theatre in 2024 to create a movement hub in Glasgow and to explore the relationship between physical theatre and film. Steve is currently working with Pitlochry Festival Theatre as Movement Director on Water Colour by Milly Sweeney, winner of the St Andrews Playwriting Award 2024.
