For our first Aye Write event of 2025, we are delighted to welcome award winning crime author Liam McIlvanney in conversation with Scottish literature expert Dr Valentina Bold, for a unique discussion of Scottish Gothic inspired by Liam’s new psychological thriller The Good Father.
From ‘Tam o’ Shanter’ through Jekyll and Hyde to Alasdair Gray and Muriel Spark, the Gothic has kept a vicelike grip on the Scottish imagination. Join Valentina and Liam at the Mitchell Library as they discuss The Good Father, the enduring appeal of Scottish Gothic and explore our fascination with the dark side.
