Textile artist Sue Selwyn said, "Our group, Diffusion Textile Artists, was formed in late 2018 after members had recently completed a City and Guilds qualification. Studying made us aware of the benefits of having an artistic practice and we now see it as an important, if not essential, part of our lives.
"Our main aims in forming the group were to continue to develop this textile practice, explore new techniques and produce exhibitions.
"We come from different parts of the country and meet up every few months, sometimes trying out new techniques together – at other times working on our own projects. The highlight of each year is spending time together over several days in a studio in the Cairngorms."
The group previously exhibited (in 2023, 2024 and 2025) in Glasgow, as part of the Scottish Quilt Show, but this is the first stand-alone exhibition.
Sue added, "Our theme is ‘Permission to Create’, which celebrates the positive benefits of creativity for individual wellbeing – whatever your circumstances or age. We want to encourage and inspire others to give themselves permission to develop their own creative outlet. We hope people enjoy visiting the exhibition."
The official opening takes place at 2.30pm this Saturday (14 June). All welcome. The exhibition is on until 31 July 2025.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
