Ade Adesina RSA — Under the Grey Sky
This Friday, Tighnabruaich Gallery is honoured to host Under the Grey Sky, a major solo exhibition by Ade Adesina RSA — one of Scotland’s most internationally recognised contemporary artists.
Fresh from his acclaimed solo exhibition at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris last year, Adesina brings to Argyll and Bute a decade’s worth of his most significant works, alongside a powerful new body of work created specifically for this show.
Adesina’s monumental linocuts and etchings explore the intersection of human activity, culture, and the environment — works that speak urgently to our present moment while drawing deeply on myth, history, and imagination. His prints feature in major public collections worldwide, yet this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience them in an intimate, rural setting on Scotland’s Secret Coast.
For Tighnabruaich Gallery, this exhibition is about more than showing world-class work — it reflects our founding vision: that meaningful, global conversations in art can (and should) take place in local communities. Adesina, as a founding mentor of the Scottish Contemporary Collective, embodies this commitment by supporting the next generation of artists while continuing to push the boundaries of his own practice.
Under the Grey Sky reminds us that even in quiet places, art can shake the ground beneath our feet.
