Being diagnosed with Parkinson’s can be tough. People with Parkinson’s may experience a range of mental health issues alongside physical symptoms. Anxiety and depression are the two most common mental health symptoms that affect people with Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s UK Scotland, working with Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH), Glasgow Life and SilverCloud, has developed a programme of support for people with Parkinson’s in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, and their family, friends and carers, who are experiencing anxiety, low mood or depression.
Both in-person Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner support and / or access to an online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy resource will be made available for individuals that have been referred by their Parkinson’s Nurse or Allied Health Professional.
Find out more and get involved by contacting Anita Jefferies, Area Development Manager with Parkinson’s UK Scotland via ajefferies@parkinsons.org.uk or 07876135817. You can also make an appointment by speaking to your Parkinson's Nurse or Allied Health Professional.
Sessions run fortnightly throughout the year.
