One of Scotland’s leading social care charities, Quarriers, celebrated a £12,000 boost after guests of its third annual Ladies’ Lunch were at their generous best.
Special guest speaker Isobel Rutter attended the event at the stunning Grand Ballroom in the luxurious Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow today.
More than 180 guests were given an insight into the diverse and varied career of the popular comedian, actress and after-dinner speaker. She had the audience in fits of laughter with her hilarious anecdotes about everyday situations that every woman can relate to.
Guests enjoyed a sparkling champagne reception, delicious two-course meal, and the chance to explore the exclusive stalls at the event. Making a special appearance for gin-lovers was the Glasgow Distillery Gin Bar; whilst a temporary airbrush tattoo and body art stand gave the day a carnival-like feel.
To top-off the fine dining and anecdotes from Isobel, further entertainment was supplied by vocal harmony group, The Jersey Tones, who got ladies on the dancefloor, singing and dancing along to popular tunes.
Speaking about the event, Isobel Rutter said: “I thoroughly enjoyed attending Quarriers Ladies’ Lunch and imparting some of my life learnings to an audience of so many wonderful women. I am proud to be part of a day which raises funds to ensure the charity can continue to support women reach their true potential.”
Commenting on the day, Alice Harper Quarriers Chief Executive said: “Now in its third year, our Ladies’ Lunch is a staple in the Quarriers’ social calendar as it focuses on celebrating women. Every day Quarriers works with inspirational women who are facing challenges. These can be mums holding families together, women who have had a difficult start in life or those who are living with disabilities.
“Quarriers would be unable to continue to help these women without the generous support of our donors and attendees. On behalf of everyone at Quarriers we would like to thank our guests for making this another brilliant day.
“Special thanks must go to Isobel, she is both hilarious and inspirational and I hope guests took something away from the many topics she spoke about.
“Once again, we are astounded by the generosity of our guests and we would like to thank them for attending and raising so much on the day. Quarriers can make a real and lasting difference with their support.”
