The Glasgow-based restaurant is collaborating with the Scottish songwriter to launch ‘Porter & Rye at home’ – a premium steak and jazz offering pairing the crème de la crème of food and music.
The offering delivers the ultimate experience for steak and jazz lovers, with a handy guide on how to create the perfect evening at home. Award winning Porter & Rye has launched a range of dining packages with instructions on how to cook the perfect steak and sides. To complete the offering, Glasgow-born Georgia Cécile has created a bespoke jazz playlist to accompany the meal. The playlist, available on Spotify and YouTube, contains the Scottish Jazz Award winner’s own music and a selection of her jazz favourites.
Kained Holdings, the team behind Glasgow restaurants Porter & Rye, The Finnieston and Lebowskis, joined forces with Georgia in a bid to support local artists and performers throughout the global pandemic. The Scottish hospitality operator hopes the collaboration will demonstrate solidarity throughout this period by bringing together two sectors that have been badly affected in recent months.
Graham Suttle, Managing Director at Kained Holdings, said: “We wanted to launch Porter to deliver a multi-sensory experience and can think of no better way of recreating our atmosphere than having Georgia’s music accompany people’s meals at home. This is Kained hopefully starting something nationally that helps the amazing live music performers and artists who have been left out in the cold by these restrictions. We hope others follow suits and give a much needed boost to so many. I cannot wait to enjoy this at home, listening to Georgia's beautiful music alongside a beautiful meal. We are bringing a truly high end dining experience to people’s homes.”
Porter & Rye at home will offer a range of premium packages, from sirloin and ribeye to fillet and chateaubriand. Starting from £45, steak lovers can enjoy a selection of additional sides and extras including speciality wines to pair with food. Georgia’s jazz playlist will further enhance the offer, creating a one of a kind experience for customers in their home. Each package comes with a premium box and branded sleeve, a starter to share, two steaks, sauces and sides, branded instructions and a link to unlock Georgia Cécile’s playlist on Spotify or YouTube.
Georgia Cécile, Scottish jazz vocalist and songwriter, said: “So many artists and musicians have been adversely affected by the current restrictions in Scotland. With festivals cancelled and venues closed, many of us have lost entire tours this year. Music and hospitality have maintained an enduring relationship, so I think this is an excellent way to show solidarity and support Scottish homegrown talent.
“I’ll be selecting music to accompany an exquisite culinary experience. I have just released a new single that I recorded this year with my band and songwriting partner Euan Stevenson, and I’ll be adding some of my all-time favourite jazz songs too. It feels like a meaningful collaboration because it’s a unique way of bringing a multi-sensory experience to people at home, no matter what’s going on in the world.”
Named as a flagship vocalist for the new wave of Scottish jazz, Georgia’s mix of jazz, pop and soul has excited fans and critics across the country. In addition to performing headline shows with her band across the UK and at European jazz festivals, the live artist is currently nominated for Vocalist of the Year at this year's prestigious Jazz FM Awards. Tipped as One To Watch by BBC Introducing, Georgia Cécile’s latest single 'Always Be Right For Me' is the first track to be released from her debut album which is out next year. Her next live performance will take place on November 15 at EFG London Jazz Festival.
