Over the first three Saturday’s in December Opie’s Emporium is offering the perfect photo opportunity for dog lovers to get their pooch pictured with Santa.
All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to Give a Dog a Bone... and an animal a home, a Scottish charity tackling loneliness for older adults and animal homelessness by helping people over 60 afford the rehoming fee of adopting a rescue pet, as well ongoing monthly costs of caring for their animal.
Louise Russell, Give a Dog a Bone Charity Founder, said: “We’re very grateful to the team at Opie’s for hosting this event. The support from the public will help us continue to provide the free services and financial support to our community of over 60s and their beloved canine companions. Pets really do make a huge difference in their lives, providing daily routine, love and friendship for many who might not have family or friends around anymore.”
For older adults who would benefit from the companionship of an animal, but for whatever reason are unable to care for a pet at home, Give a Dog a Bone provides a Community Space in Glasgow, one of three in Scotland, for older adults to spend time with the charity’s Companionship Dogs. An evolving programme of free activities for people over 60, to help them engage with their community, make new friends and learn new skills is also delivered by Give a Dog a Bone.
The Opie’s Emporium event will be a welcome support for Give a Dog a Bone who are asking the public to ‘Help Two Lives this Christmas’ through donations and Christmas Gifting, having released their first ever Christmas advert earlier this week.
Dom Hogan, Opie’s Emporium Managing Director, said: “As the owner of a business selling goodies for dogs, I get to hear from customers on a daily basis just how much joy is brought into their lives by their pet. Our customers and their dogs are part of our family, and we’re overjoyed to find a charity which shares the same ethos. We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Give a Dog a Bone this festive season. We hope our fundraising will help make a difference to an older person’s life”
From today, dog lovers can book a 5 minute slot between 12pm and 4pm on any of the available Saturday’s directly through the Opie’s Emporium website at www.opiesemporium.co.uk
Appointments are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis at the cost of £10, which will be donated to Give a Dog a Bone.
